The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) joined in a collective action for community development by participating as a Platinum Sponsor of the 2026 Diplomatic Spouses Association of Zimbabwe (DSA) Charity Bazaar.

Organized by the Diplomatic Spouses Association of Zimbabwe, a voluntary, non-profit association established in 1981, the annual Charity Bazaar is one of the Association’s flagship fundraising initiatives. The proceeds support charitable projects across Zimbabwe, focusing on helping vulnerable individuals and communities.

The 2026 event, held at Old Georgians Sports Club on 17 October, featured cultural displays, traditional cuisine, handicrafts, national attire, and entertainment from participating countries, giving visitors a chance to experience different cultures while supporting a worthy cause.

By supporting the bazaar, ARIPO joined other sponsors, diplomatic missions, businesses and community partners in contributing to an initiative that brings people together in the spirit of generosity and collective responsibility.

Speaking at the event representing the ARIPO Director General was Dr. Graham Mhlakaza, the Head of Human Capital and Administration. He said the platinum-level sponsorship reflects ARIPO’s enthusiasm for supporting the community in which it operates, and a general recognition of the importance of collective action in advancing sustainable development.

ARIPO exhibited at the bazaar, spending the day engaging with members of the diplomatic community and visitors in support of a shared cause. Its participation underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing community needs and advancing initiatives that make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

As a regional intergovernmental organization serving 22 Member States, ARIPO recognizes that sustainable development requires more than institutional mandates; it calls for partnerships, shared responsibility and a collective commitment to progress. Supporting the Charity Bazaar reflects this understanding and reinforces ARIPO's role as a reliable partner in initiatives that bring stakeholders together for the greater good.

The participation also comes as ARIPO prepares to celebrate 50 years of advancing innovation, creativity and intellectual property protection in Africa, marking five decades of progress built on cooperation, strong partnerships and a shared vision for the continent's future.
